犬山城Inuyama Castle

About the Inuyama Castle
Inuyama Castle, built in 1537 by Oda Nobuyasu, the uncle of the famous Oda Nobunaga, is one of Japan’s oldest surviving wooden castles and is designated as a National Treasure. The castle’s main keep offers panoramic views of the Kiso River and the charming castle town below. Inside, visitors can climb steep wooden staircases and see original beams and structures that evoke the atmosphere of Japan’s samurai era. The surrounding castle town is famous for its traditional streets, kimono rental experiences, and delicious local treats like Gohei-mochi (grilled rice cakes) and matcha sweets. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom around the castle, while autumn brings vibrant foliage, making it a year-round destination. Easily accessible from Nagoya by train or taxi, Inuyama Castle is a must-see historical gem near Nagoya.
